Wachter commenced his career performing as an Associate Consultant and Consultant with management consulting firms Temple, Barker & Sloane and CSC Index Systems, respectively. Leaving CSC Index Systems to join PepsiCo, Lee G. Wachter's abilities at creating information technology (IT) plans and strategies for large-scale development products earned him five promotions during his five years with the company, culminating with the position of Systems Development Director. Citicorp POS Information Service hired Lee G. Wachter as Director of Retail Information Systems where his development of databases and toolkits provided the company with yearly savings of $2.2 million. Additionally, Lee G. Wachter instituted several programs to obtain new customers including direct mail, targeting services, and electronic coupons. After two years with Citicorp POS Information Service, Lee G. Wachter provided his services as Vice President and Chief Information Officer of North American Information Systems to Waterford Wedgwood, a $1 billion international fine crystal and china company. At Waterford Wedgwood, Lee G. Wachter managed the IT department and reduced shipping times by 60 percent. Consulting group PricewaterhouseCoopers provided Lee G. Wachter with his next position as Senior Manager for Consumer Products IT Consulting Practice, where he helped other companies institute Enterprise Resource Planning systems and streamline supply chains. Over the next few years, Lee G. Wachter would accept several other high-ranking positions among various companies. He would supervise a staff of nearly 90 people as Vice President and Chief Information Officer for the health care, consumer product, and industrial manufacturer Olympus America Inc. As Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Diageo North America, a wine and spirit company, Lee G. Wachter would oversee a global staff of more than 200 people, control an IT budget of $40 million, and conduct due diligence during an acquisition of Joseph E. Seagram. Additionally, Lee G. Wachter handled the IT Department, e-commerce products, and integrated partnerships as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Cendant Corp., formerly the $800 million private-label loyalty program provider.
